EC Report summarises the impact of Citizen Science projects

The recently published report Citizen Science and Citizen Engagement – Achievements in Horizon 2020 and recommendations on the way forward provides an excellent snapshot of European Commission funded efforts in the area of Citizen Science. Written by Colombe Warin and Niamh Delaney, this report traces the history of EC funding in Citizen Science, succinctly describing the context and prevailing priorities at different stages before providing a summary of the current selection of projects funded under Horizon 2020.

The project description section makes it clear what is expected from each project based on the original call as well as how the portfolio of projects fits together. Perhaps the most interesting part of this report is the short summary of recommendations for the future which includes a list of challenges that still need to tackled. For us in CS Track, its interesting to see a reference to the need for design and adoption of indicators to measure outcomes which is certainly closely allied to our work. You can download the full report here.
