Michiel Van Oudheusden and Yasuhito Abe have recently published a research paper on the two trajectories of “Citizen Sciencization” in Environmental Governance. They conducted a comparative analysis of Safecast (radiation pollution; Japan) and CuriousNoses (air pollution; Flanders, Belgium) projects in order to explore how bottom-up citizen science projects differ from the more traditional top-down citizen science and challenge expert-centric citizen science approaches.
